The Miller Center for Interreligious Learning and Leadership, Hebrew College - Science for Seminaries

The Miller Center for Interreligious Learning and Leadership, Hebrew College

Checkered outline of the 10 commandments in blue and orange.

The Miller Center for Interreligious Learning and Leadership at Hebrew College is pursuing climate engagement for Jewish communities with an emphasis on food systems through the “Greening Judaism” project. Rabbis Dr. Or Rose and Dr. Natan Margalit lead a survey-based study of climate-related science education in Jewish seminaries and convene a faith leader working group to identify and address needs in this area. The team will publish findings and best practices developed through these activities. The Eco-kashrut movement, which seeks to extend the system of Jewish dietary laws to address modern environmental, social, ethical issues gives “Greening Judaism” additional thematic focus as they engage questions of responsibility in the face of climate-related sciences. As part of the grant, the Miller Center is also hosting a series of open lectures for their students and local community.
