Portland Seminary

Portland Seminary. Academic building with sign that says "George Fox University Portland Seminary."

Portland Seminary of George Fox University will carry out the project “Exploring Intersections of Science and Spirituality as Tools for Wellness and Healing.” With the support of the grant, they will redesign four courses (3 core and 1 elective) from their curriculum: Essentials in Christian Theology, Historical Theology: Early Church Through Reformation, Awareness & Identity II, and Ecotheology I.

As a part of their project, Portland Seminary will also host two campus-wide events. The “Science and the Wesleyan traditions” symposium will focus on the engagement of the natural sciences in John Wesley’s thought and currently in Wesleyan traditions. Their second event, the “Science and Spiritual Practice” symposium, will address the cognitive science underlying the relationship between brain neuroplasticity and spiritual formation.
