Nazarene Theological Seminary

Nazarene Theological Seminary’s (NTS) Climate Informed Communities project is focused on resourcing emerging and current Christian leaders to be better informed about climate science and better prepared to engage climate issues with intelligibility and faithfulness. The project is driven by the assumption that Christian leaders (pastors, directors, lay ministers) a) must necessarily engage climate science as they respond to the social, cultural, political, and economic landscapes of their contexts, b) are frequently under-resourced or misdirected/misguided by politicized and sensationalized sources with regard to climate science, and c) are genuinely seeking to be informed leaders who can guide their communities in faithful and credible engagement on climate science topics. Specific activities include faculty forums on climate science course integration, a video resource for Christian leaders disseminated through NTS’s Praxis platform, a learning day event for students and broader constituents, and pedagogical and course adjustments to enhance climate science engagement in core courses.
