The Methodist Theological School in Ohio (MTSO) will carry out a project entitled “Questioning Science with Good Faith: Shifting the Engagement of Science in Seminaries.” Their first revised course is Introduction to Theology, which will incorporate science into the modules Dimensions of Salvation and Creation: Human and Non-Human Nature. Their second revised course is the Survey of Global Christian History, which will engage science into two units: Christianity and the Creation of Race and Christianity and Pandemics.

MTSO’s campus-wide event, “Trust in Science? Religious Leaders, Scientists, and the Challenge of Science Denialism,” will show the relevance of science to theological reflection and study. This spring 2022 event will assist seminary students, faculty, and religious leaders as they navigate and examine science denialism as a national phenomenon. MTSO aims to engage participants in an engaging examination of contemporary denials of science, which are complex and often do not represent a wholesale rejection of all science.
