Knox Theological Seminary - Science for Seminaries

Knox Theological Seminary

Knox Theological Seminary builds upon “Sustainable Scientific Engagement in the Educational Core” (2019-2020) with a new grant, “Creation Care and the Emergent Ethics of Group Behavior.” This project, led by Dr. Tim Sansbury, focuses on climate science relevant to south Florida, raising questions around the ethical demands arising from apparently benign individual actions which, in aggregate, become deleterious in both human and ecological terms. The grant supports major revisions to two ethics courses at the seminary, a public symposium, and a field trip for faculty to observe and understand scientific evidence about coastal environmental change in the area—such as sea grass loss, coral bleaching, increased red tide events, sea level rise, and changing hurricane dynamics.
