Ecumenical Theological Seminary

Ecumenical Theological Seminary’s project, “Theologies of De-Colonization, Displacement, and Climate Change,” leverages science engagement to mobilize new forms of response to climate emergency. Two workshops, open to students and the local public, highlight the experiences of artists and activists in inner city Detroit as well as the wisdom of indigenous traditions. By opening critical discourse within and beyond the idioms of theology and science, the project leaders Drs. James Perkinson and Brandon Grafius, look to make the planetary dimensions of climate upheaval clear and actionable in relationship to grassroots urban concerns about indigenous displacement, environmental injustice, and ecological harm.
