Columbia Theological Seminary

Columbia Theological Seminary is undertaking a campus carbon audit and examining the local environmental history in order to integrate climate justice concerns into the institution’s strategic blueprinting initiative and campus master plan. The project, “Seeking Tikkun Olam: Pursuing Climate Justice,” led by Drs. Mark Douglas and Martha Moore-Keish, are additionally providing a workshop to faculty on pedagogical approaches to climate science engagement and small grants for honoraria to bring scientists to the classroom. An evening event on local climate impacts and climate justice is planned in partnership with Georgia Interfaith Power & Light and the City of Decatur, and will be made available to the public. This project builds on work by Dr. Bill Brown and others under a previous grant, “Science and the Seminary Classroom: Creating Opportunities for Constructive Student Engagement with Science” (2014-2016).
