Brigham Young University - Science for Seminaries

Brigham Young University

Text reads BYU, Brigham Young University.

This project aims to engage the approximately 17.2 million members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through a set of resources that will help their membership integrate science with scripture using a compatibility framework.

Grant participants will create a limited-series podcast and freely downloadable supplemental educational materials aimed toward Gospel Doctrine instructors, Seminary and Institute instructors, and parents to coincide with the coordinated worldwide study of the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine & Covenants among members of the CJCLDS. Each year, a book of scripture is selected, and members of the Church collectively study it in weekly worship services, youth education, and family study following a coordinated timeline. This project will provide “science supplements” to enhance understanding of science through a faithful lens. They will tap into experts in both science and scripture to provide the most scientifically robust and faith promoting resources. Resources will include lesson plans, infographics, informational videos, interviews, and podcasts to fulfill a variety of multimedia needs.
