Academy for Jewish Religion begins the project, “From the Physical to the Emotional and Psychological Impact of Climate Change,” under the direction of Drs. Rabbi Matthew Goldstone and Rabbi Jill Hammer. The grant supports a series of public webinars on topics related to disaster relief and eco-chaplaincy. A set of lunchtime programs are being held on carbon emissions, carbon offsets, and the role of clergy. Additionally, faculty are developing a new section on climate bereavement for the Counseling course as well as incorporating a new emphasis on climate in the course, Scientific Literacy for Clergy, which was developed as one of the elements of a previous project, titled “Bringing Science to Jewish Clergy” (2021-2022).
